How to choose the best elliptical under 500
Since ellipticals aren’t the cheapest, there are some factors that you should focus on to find a quality elliptical in a budget. The most important factor other than the price is what you want in the product and what you want to get out of using it.
Test the equipment
It sounds crazy and slightly embarrassing, but when you’re spending a significant amount of money, you want the product to be worth it. Get on the elliptical and use it as if you were at home. While you’re testing out the product, pay attention to the smoothness of the motion. Set the machine to its hardest settings even if you don’t usually use those resistances. Move on if the machine wobbles creaks or makes a lot of noise. Unlike treadmills, ellipticals should run quietly because they use magnetic resistance instead of a motor. Almost any unit will feel and seem adequate if you use it briefly. It’s only when you begin to put an elliptical trainer through its paces that you will start to notice major differences in quality and comfort. So take your time and test out several ellipticals.
Goals you want to achieve
Not having a goal is a bad start to any workout routine. It is setting you up for failure, and we all truly want to succeed. Understand what you want to get out of using the elliptical and where you would like to be as far as long-term goals. Resistance levels will allow you to challenge yourself and exceed expectations. Before physically using the elliptical, make a workout schedule. You can’t just get on the elliptical and more and expect that to be effective. Have a workout plan and use that as a guide when shopping for an elliptical.
How does the movement of the machine feel when using it? This is a critical question to ask when trying an elliptical. Does the product feel natural or does it feel forced? Be sure to try several machines to get an idea of subtle differences. Spend at least 10 minutes on each unit. You should not feel unusual stress on your knees or hips or any odd sensations in your lower legs. The elliptical is meant not to cause those issues. Also, when using the unit, you should be able to exercise in a neutral position with relatively upright posture, without over-extending or bending over to reach the handrails. Stay away from machines that feel wobbly or unnatural. An important factor to look for here is the motion of the feet. This is not ideal as it can cause nerve issues that can result in tingling in your feet.
A stride that is too short won’t give you the maximum results. If you have an elliptical that has a stride that is too long, you can risk pulling a muscle. Therefore, If more than one person is going to be using the elliptical, it is best to find an elliptical with an adjustable stride.
This is easy to use the elliptical machine. If you are looking for an entry to a mid-level home elliptical machine, Schwinn A40 Elliptical Machine is fitting for you. It allows you to change up your workout with different programs, so you aren’t stuck doing the same thing. You can either take it easy or push yourself so you can exceed your abilities.

Schwinn A40 Elliptical Machine, in my opinion, is the best elliptical under 500 option. The versatility in the way the machine works gives you more options instead of doing the same workout. I like having options because I tend to lose focus fast if something gets too repetitive. I could see myself getting more in shape and using this machine more often rather than the others. I’m not dedicated to lifting weights, but I do enjoy and would like to tone up more. I’m all for getting more for your buck, and that’s what I would be getting out of the Schwinn A40 Elliptical Machine.
Do your research before purchasing an elliptical and you will find out that you don’t have to pay a lot just to get a quality machine. If you are just starting out, get that motivation and achieve the goals you set for yourself.
